How to cook Mughlai dishes

When it comes to Mughlai cuisine, two things should be on your radar:

The first is the spices used in the dishes. You’ll find a lot of ginger, garlic, coriander, and turmeric. The second is the use of raita or pilau.

While the first is simple enough, the second is more difficult to master. Raita is a rich, savory sauce made from yogurt and spices. It’s a key ingredient in many Mughlai dishes.

You can buy readymade raita, but if you’re cooking yourself, make your own. The secret is consistency.

You’ll need to mix one part yogurt with one part water and add a little salt and sugar. To taste, you can add garam masala, cayenne pepper, or other spices.

Where to buy the ingredients

Mughlai dishes are often prepared with a combination of spices and herbs. To ensure you can find the right ingredients, we’ve created a list of the best shops and markets worldwide where you can find the best spices and herbs.

1. The Spice Market in Melbourne is the largest in Australia and one of the biggest in the world. It’s also the oldest and was opened in

2. The Spice Market is located at 3-11 Bourke Street, Carlton, VIC

3. For more information about the Spice Market, visit their website here. Namaste (India) Namaste is an Indian grocery store that sells spices, herbs, and essential oils.

Ingredients required

Ingredients such as coriander, black pepper, salt, ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, black cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and bay leaves are key components in most Mughlai dishes.

These are all readily available in most grocery stores, and most large grocery chains carry various spices.

You can also purchase spices from online retailers.

Coriander Seeds – The name of the spice is derived from Coriandrum sativum, the Latin name for the herb coriander. It’s best to buy whole seeds rather than powdered form because the flavor is more intense when used fresh. You can use the entire root or grind it before using it in a mortar and pestle. Turmeric – Turmeric is an essential ingredient in curries. It’s best to buy turmeric powder as a fine powder, not ground.

To make the powder, place about 1/16th cup of turmeric in a clean coffee grinder and process until you have a fine powder. You can also make a paste by mixing equal parts of turmeric and water, then storing it in a sealed jar in the refrigerator. The paste will keep for about one week. Saffron – Saffron is the dried stigmas of crocus flowers. Saffron has a strong, warm flavor and is used as a spice in sauces and soups. The herb is expensive and best bought from specialty stores.

Tips for Making Mughlai Food

Mughlai food is extremely healthy, and it’s easy to prepare. Here are a few tips to help you make some amazing Mughlai dishes.

** Use fresh ingredients.

While a Mughlai dish may contain a lot of spices, it’s still better to use fresh ingredients.

** Use seasonal produce.

For example, if you use onions during summer, they should be used during summer.

** Don’t add salt.

Don’t add salt to any Mughlai dish because it makes the food bland and tasteless.

** Add herbs and spices.

Add dried herbs and spices such as coriander, cumin, and black pepper.

** Use fresh and dried fruits.

Fresh fruits such as apples, pears, grapes, and oranges are perfect for adding flavor to Mughlai dishes.

** Try to make Mughlai dishes vegetarian.

Mughlai dishes are usually made with meat, but they can easily be made as vegetarian dishes.

** Try Mughlai desserts.

Mughlai desserts are delicious and a must-try.

** Try to make your Mughlai food.

Making your Mughlai food is not difficult. If you have a little knowledge about cooking, you can do this.
